After Fastener Expo Shanghai 2026: Same Bolts, Different Industry

June 24–26, 2026, National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai): 70,000 sqm, 1,400+ exhibitors, 51,903 professional visitors, 4,578 overseas buyers.
As a bolt & nut supplier covering Grade 8.8–12.9, I went to check prices. I left with a clearer picture of where the industry is going.
Hall 1.1 / 2.1: Tinglee, Tung Meng, Aozhan, Hadiwei, Bogu, Tianbao… all leading with 12.9-grade bolts, A2-70/A4-80 stainless, wind/solar/automotive fasteners. Overseas buyers no longer open with “price”. They open with grade, standard, finish, salt spray, hardness, tensile, EN 10204 3.1.
Hall 3: Cold headers, multi-station formers, thread rolling machines, CCD sorters. The equipment procurement festival closed 415 machines on-site. That heat means the industry is shifting from “tons sold” to “tolerance and stability”.
Overseas buyers: 83.9% had purchasing intent; 56.6% had budgets above USD 500k. Russia, Turkey, UAE, Indonesia, Brazil, Eastern Europe, South America — they want documents, lead time and project compliance, not just cheap screws.
My takeaway as a bolt/nut seller:
- 4.8 / 8.8 parts: volume business, thin margin.
- 10.9 / 12.9 parts: the real backbone for SMEs entering steel structure, machinery, wind and rail supply chains.
- Non-standard / drawing-based parts: the profit pool.
- After this show, I’m not sending “full range of bolts and nuts, good price” anymore.
- New catalog lead: Grade → Standard → Finish → Test report → Engineered kit (bolt+nut+washer+label+carton+pallet).
- A fastener is still grams of steel.
- But a project-approved fastener is sold by traceability, inspection and delivery trust.
